Obliqo: The Smarter Way to Disappear

Project Overview Most VPN apps feel overly technical, cluttered, or untrustworthy. Obliqo is a premium mobile VPN experience designed to reduce user anxiety and build immediate trust through radical transparency, clear visual feedback, and frictionless usability.

The Problem: The Privacy Paradox While users download VPNs to feel secure, the experience often creates more anxiety. My research revealed that 73.2% of users fear their VPN provider is actively selling their data, and 67.4% are deeply anxious about "silent failures"—situations where the connection drops in the background without any warning. Current market solutions rely on fear-based marketing and fail to provide the "emotional safety blanket" users actually need.

The Solution: Designing for Trust & Emotional Security Instead of just building another connection toggle, I redesigned the VPN experience from the ground up to focus on human-centered security:

• Positive Reinforcement: Replaced confusing technical jargon with a minimal, dynamic interface that provides instant visual confirmation when protection is active (showing IP masking and real-time encryption status).

• Contextual Lockdown (Kill-Switch UX): Eliminated "silent failures." If a connection drops, the app intercepts the traffic and explicitly explains why the internet is paused, removing user panic and guesswork.

• Radical Transparency: Shifted away from complex legalese by designing a plain-language Privacy Dashboard that honestly communicates what data is handled, bridging the trust gap right from the onboarding stage.
